Steven Brooks, class of 2003, is looking to make the US Lacrosse Team that will compete in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship in Manchester, England from July 10-24, 2010.

Bridgton Academy is looking for a Sports Information Intern for the upcoming academic year. This is a great opportunity to get an intensive year of writing and photographing Wolverine games, working with student athletes on a number of levels, getting your work published both in print and online, and having a great year in general.

Position Available: Sports Information Intern

Bridgton Academy, the nation’s premier postgraduate boarding school for young men, seeks a Sports Information Intern for the 2009-2010 academic year. Bridgton Academy's mission is to provide a program for young men in a unique, one-year postgraduate environment to prepare for the rigors of college and beyond.

Sports Information interns are fully involved in all aspects of Bridgton’s postgraduate year. The program is very demanding of one’s time, talents, and energy. The internship is designed to be an introduction to the sports information profession, especially in the private boarding school/college environment, focusing on a combination of responsibilities, including sports reporting/writing, photography, videography, web content management, sports information management, team or club coaching, and residential life leadership. Interns will receive structured support and career advice from faculty mentors.

The Intern position is a nine month appointment: August 15, 2009 – May 15, 2010. Compensation includes stipend, residence hall accommodations, school term meals, and school vacations.

Former Wolverine Cavaliere Competes in DI NCAA Lacrosse Championship

On Monday May 25, 2009 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro MA, former Wolverine lacrosse captain Lincoln Cavaliere (’06) celebrated a victory in the DI NCAA Lacrosse Championship along with the rest of the Syracuse University Lacrosse team. After a tough fought game which resulted in overtime, Syracuse downed Cornell University 10-9, earning Syracuse their 11th NCAA Championship. As Cavaliere enters his senior year, we hope to see Syracuse defend their title for the third year in a row and add a 12th NCAA Championship.

Wolverines Lacrosse Players Receive Awards

Seven of this year's Wolverines Lacrosse team members received awards during last weekends Graduation events. Joe Robichaud, Nate Rivet, Eric Clemmenson, Simon Hudson, Ben Cullen, Ryan Hunt, and Dave Brackett all were recognized either Friday or Saturday and we wanted to wish a special Congratulations to them all and best of luck with all of their future endeavors!!

Six Wolverines Earn Division I Scholarships

Six members of this years Bridgton Academy Lacrosse team have earned Division I scholarships for next season. Charlie Kocmond, Andrew Duckett, and Dave Rothenberg have all chosen to sign National Letters of Intent to join the University of Jacksonville next season. Teammate Eric Clemmenson will be heading to Colgate University, while Ben Cullen will be attending Air Force, and Dorian Wolff has selected Quinnipiac University.

Bridgton Falls to Navy Prep 11-2

The Wolverines traveled down to Navy over the weekend for an annual showdown with an always talented Navy Prep squad. This year was no exception as Navy Prep was able to break apart the Wolverines on their way to an impressive 11-2 win over a struggling Wolverines squad. Ben Cullen (Huston, TN) scored both goals for the Wolverines on the afternoon to lead the Bridgton offense. Joe Robichaud (Madison, CT) turned away 35 Navy Prep Shots in an impressive performance in the Wolverines net.

Bridgton will take the field for the final time this season on Friday, May 1st when they travel to Hyde School for a 3:30 PM game.

Bridgton Downs Cape Elizabeth 11-4

The Wolverines picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday when they played host to Cape Elizabeth. Bridgton struck first and was able to build a lead early in coasting to an impressive 11-4 win on a cold, rainy afternoon at Bridgton. Ryan Hunt and Junior Burke each scored 3 goals on the afternoon, while Ben Santos added 2, and Ben Cullen, Jacob Boutillier, and Dave Rothenberg added 1 goal apiece.

The Wolverines will look to carry some momentum from Wednesdays win with them on Saturday as they travel down to Navy Prep for a 1 PM showdown.
